Mininuc Island February 28, 2007

Sure wish we there now. Lovely water-
so nice & warm. Balmy breezes.

Today we were given a surprise gift by captain Dag. As the favorable currents put us ahead of schedule, he arranged for the El Nido resort to bring beach rentals, music, food and drinks. We had large woven mats holding four soft cushions around low table cloth covered tables. These were arranged under the cocoanut palms on this hauntingly beautiful beach cove of the Mininuc island, one of 6000 Philippine islands. The water, warm and crystal clear, presented Barb and I another wonderful snorkling experience. An 8 inch brilliant blue Star fish, miniature neons, schools of tiny anchovey and an array of ten to 15 different skillfully designed fish came into view over patches of multishaped coral and white sand streaked with sunlight. That evening we attended a surprise birthday party in half of the Verizon restaurant marked “private party”. One can have such an event and the ship pays for it tips included. It was for Bob and his achievement of Social Security, arranged by his wife Carol. This couple lives near Minneapolis.

These islands
have huge craggy cliffs.
